Around the Globe
In my ongoing project, Moving Forward, Standing Still, each photograph depicts an arrangement of figures in the landscape, interacting as if for a marked occasion. These encounters capture the moment when a set of characters, a network of relationships, and the web of connections seem suspended in space. As a photographer, I have become the audience to which these dynamic moments are revealed. Though the photographs are not staged or directed, I think of these images as dramatizations or character(s) on a set. These scenes fill the frame, revealing a glimpse of the activities in which people are engaged. Some images contain humor in the everyday. Taken around the globe, each contains a bit of cultural revelation, common and uncommon. These scenes are reminders to pause and reflect on the moments that often escape notice within our fast-paced world.
The images are printed 24x20" as digital chromogenic prints. This is an ongoing series.
